CAMP INFORMATION

 

Camp Dates:  July 16-18, 2024

Overnight Program: Evening of July 18, 2024 (ONLY for campers entering 5th and 6th grade)

AM Drop-off: 7:30am at Steve Michaud Park in Lakeville

PM Pick-up: 5:00pm at Steve Michaud Park in Lakeville

 

CAMP PROGRAMMING

 

  • Campers:  Campers entering 1-6 grade in the fall of this year.  

IF YOUR CAMPER IS GOING INTO 1-6 GRADES IN FALL OF THIS YEAR, USE THE “CAMPER” REGISTRATION FORM.

 

  • Program Aides in Training (PAT):  Campers entering 7-11 grade in the fall of this year.

Lakeville GS Day Camp provides a unique training experience for girls who want to work at Lakeville Girl Scout Day Camp as a Program Aide.  

  • Girls receive Program Aide training as approved by the GSCRV Council in addition to enhanced training as a Jr. Caddie and Caddie, which includes outdoor skills training modules.  This program provides the girls all of the skills required to work at Lakeville GS Day Camp.  PATs are required to attend the overnight program as part of their training.  The overnight program is included in their PAT fee.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS

Adult volunteers are needed to ensure we have a safe camp, and so all girls have the opportunity to attend. Without enough adult volunteers we may have to turn campers away.  Please consider volunteering - or have a family member volunteer.  

 

Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Dads, Older Siblings, Cousins have all volunteered at camp in the past - and many have said they wished they had done it sooner - it turned out to be one of the best days of their summer!

 

ROLE OF AN ADULT VOLUNTEER

  • Assist, support, and encourage PAs as needed within assigned unit and/or patrol

  • Look for opportunities to assist with activities, such as:

  • Handout supplies and assist with crafts and/or activities (remember to help all campers not just your own)!

  • Escort campers to the restroom

  • Assist with sunscreen and bug spray

  • Assist with headcount and keeping track of campers

  • PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITIES AND HAVE FUN!

 

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR VOLUNTEERS

  • Must be 18 years old or older.

  • You can volunteer for one, two, or all three days of camp.  

  • You can volunteer for the overnight on Thursday.

  • Lunch is provided for volunteers.

  • Volunteers MUST ride the bus.


 

COVID UPDATE

At the time of registration (April 2024), Girl Scout guidelines are allowing more than one person per seat on buses and are allowing overnights, none of which require masks. If COVID caseload in Dakota County is too high at the time of camp (July 2024), we may have to pivot on some requirements as it relates to masking on the buses and indoor venues. We may also have to pivot to a campfire program, returning late on Thursday night, rather than an overnight program.  WE THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING, PATIENCE, AND FLEXIBILITY

OVERNIGHT PROGRAM

The optional overnight program is available ONLY for girls entering 5th and 6th grade in FALL of this year. For 2024, the overnight is Thursday night, July 18th through Friday morning, July 19th. Pickup will be approximately 10:00 a.m. Friday morning at Steve Michaud Park.

The overnight experience consists of hiking, advanced camp activities, campfire program with songs and skits, and we end the night sleeping in tents. In addition, they experience dinner and dessert cooked over the fire as well as a quick breakfast on Friday morning. The campsite is in an open area with all tents visible to Campers, Program Aides in Training, Program Aides, and Adult Volunteers to ensure safety.

PHONE CALLS HOME

Campers will NOT be permitted to call home. In case of emergency an adult volunteer will call you.

TENT ASSIGNMENTS

Overnight volunteers work with campers on Tuesday and Wednesday to choose their tent mates. Camp tents accommodate 2 campers. Campers who wish to sleep with more than one other girl are asked to bring their own tents. It is recommended that campers who are attending with friends work their sleeping arrangement out in advance so they can clearly articulate their wishes to the volunteers.

TROOPS ATTENDING OVERNIGHT WITH AN ADULT VOLUNTEER

Adult volunteers, such as Troop Leaders, wishing to be with troop members must indicate that on this registration form. If a large group wants to be in the same tent together they will be required to bring their own tent. NO adults are allowed in tents with campers, other than their own daughter.

ITEMS TO PACK IN YOUR BACKPACK EACH DAY

Water Bottle.  Make sure your camper has at least 1 refillable water bottle. It is usually hot at camp and we need to drink lots of water. We have many opportunities to refill throughout the day. Also, talk to your camper about how important it is to drink water throughout the day.

Swimwear.  Campers swim every day – weather permitting! It is a great idea to have the camper wear their swimsuit and bring a change of underclothes along to change into after swimming. This saves time and allows campers to have as much time in the pool as possible.  Also make sure your camper has a towel and a plastic bag to put their wet clothes in so everything else in her backpack stays dry.
