Camper Registration

Camper Registration

CAMP DATES:  July 21-23, 2020

This Summer, CAMP is Where You Make It!

Camping is a Girl Scout tradition and we are excited to offer a Virtual Camp experience for our Lakeville Girl Scout community!  This virtual camping experience will give girls and families a chance to connect with each other and the camp Program Aides through a common love for camp and the outdoors.  This event aims to bring you the magic and traditions of camp from home.

We encourage you to share your virtual camp experience on social media with the hashtag #LakevilleGSCamp2020.  Whether you pitch a tent in your yard, craft s'mores in the microwave, construct a dreamy blanket fort, or sing a song with your troop over video chat, your at home camping creations will inspire other girls to try it out themselves!

Girls can get together to complete activities if social distancing rules can be followed.  This might be the time to invite a neighbor who hasn’t tried camping to try something new and have some fun together!

*The program will run July 21-23.

*Each morning your camper will have a "check in" via a live Zoom call with a PA where they will recite the promise and law, get to know each other, and sing a song (10-15 minutes)

**Each day there will be activities in 3 areas of learning:

(1) DISCOVER:  Campers will learn a new skill, such as knots, compassing, shelter/fort building, or building a first aid kit.

(2) CREATE:  Campers will create a craft

(3) EXPERIENCE:  Campers will participate in an activity that will allow them to experience the outdoors in a new way, such as a scavenger hunt or creating a bed roll.

*All activities will be age appropriate and work at your own pace.

*Instruction videos will be provided for all activities.

*Campers in grades 4-6 will have a "check out" via a live Zoom call from a PA in the evening (10-15 minutes).

*All campers will have the opportunity to interact throughout the day with with their PAs via quick Flip Grid interchanges.

*A website where you will access videos and additional resources to complete activities, and additional fun resources - such as camping recipes.

*End of camp CELEBRATION with songs and skits.

Each camper will receive a box prior to camp start date that will include a t-shirt, patch, mini songbook, welcome and agenda, access to a website with all resources necessary to complete the activities successfully, and most supplies needed to complete crafts, etc.  Boxes will be available for pickup in Lakeville the week prior to camp.

Campers can still sign up for "unplugged" camp and get the camp box and work on the activities at your own pace.

The cost of the program is $35 which covers the expense of the items provided in the camp box.  Campers can use Cookie Credits and/or apply for Grants for Girls to help cover the expense.
